KANSAS HOMELESSNESS PREVENTION AND RAPID RE-HOUSING PROGRAM (HPRP)

Kansas Housing Resources Corporation (KHRC) announces the release of a Request for Applications (RFA) for the Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-housing Program (HPRP). KHRC is making available approximately $8.3 million in HPRP funds for a thirty month period. The Request for Applications (RFA) is issued pursuant to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (Recovery Act) signed on February 19, 2009 by President Obama.  The complete HPRP can be viewed at http://www.hudhre.info/hprp  Through the Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has been authorized by Congress to dedicate funds for homelessness prevention and rapid re-housing activities, including: short-term or medium-term rental assistance, housing relocation and stabilization services, mediation, credit counseling, security or utility deposits, utility payments, moving cost assistance, case management, or other appropriate activities for homelessness prevention and rapid re-housing of persons that have become homeless. Contracts awarded under this program are 100% federal and have a catalog of federal assistance (CFDA) number of 14.257.
KHRC is requesting applications from local municipalities (cities and or counties) that could include not-for-profit corporations and charitable organizations, faith-based organizations, to be considered for funding through the Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-housing Program (HPRP). Awards will be determined through an application review process.
KHRC is also requesting applications for not-for-profit organizations to provide HPRP services statewide.  Not-for-profit organizations applying directly to KHRC for funding under this program would need to demonstrate the ability to either; completely provide or collaborate with other agencies to provide all HPRP related services on a statewide level.
