Latest News:Notice of Housing Needs and Fair Housing Barriers Public Hearing for the The State of Kansas will conduct a public hearing on housing needs and issues for citizens to have input into the development of the 2011 Kansas Consolidated Plan. The Consolidated Plan is the state’s policy framework for federal community development and housing programs. Resources available in 2011 are estimated include approximately $18,260,000 from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), $8,557,000 from HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME), $897,000 from the Emergency Shelter Grant (ESG), and $384,000 from Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) programs. The State is also soliciting input on barriers to Fair Housing, in preparation to update its Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice. A Fair Housing Survey is available and will also be available at the Hearing. Individuals with disabilities or limited English proficiency are welcome to attend and participate in the public hearing. If you are in need of a sign language interpreter, an assistive listening device, large print, or Braille material, or other accommodation to attend this meeting, please notify KHRC at least five days prior to the meeting. SBA Offers Disaster Assistance to Kansas Residents and Businesses Affected by Flash Flooding Sacramento, CA – Low-interest federal disaster loans are available to Kansas residents and business owners affected by the severe storms with torrential rain that caused flash flooding on June 16, 2010 in Riley County, U. S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Administrator Karen G. Mills said today. SBA acted under its own authority to declare a disaster in response to the state’s request we received on June 29, 2010. The disaster declaration makes SBA assistance available in the Kansas counties of Clay, Geary, Marshall, Pottawatomie, Riley, Wabaunsee and Washington. Full Story

2010 Emergency Shelter Grant (ESG) Applications Now Being Accepted: The ESG program is managed by the Kansas Housing Resources Corporation (KHRC). The Emergency Shelter Grant is designed to be the first stage in a continuum of assistance to prevent homelessness and to enable homeless individuals to move toward independent living. The Kansas Housing Resources Corporation announces the posting of a Request for Proposal (RFP) for Kansas Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) FFY 2010 Discretionary Funds. Entities eligible to submit a proposal for FFY 2010 CSBG discretionary funding are CSBG-eligible entities providing services in Kansas, the Kansas statewide association of community action programs and other organizations whose primary purpose is that of eliminating the causes and effects of poverty in Kansas. AMERICAN RECOVERY AND REINVESTMENT ACT OF 2009 Kansas Housing Resources Corporation (KHRC) administers five programs that were either impacted or created by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). These programs are the: Kansas Weatherization Assistance Program, Housing Credit Exchange Program, Tax Credit Assistance Program, Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program, and Community Services Block Grant Program.
